The topic is INSPIRATION.
Inspiration rarely arrives when I’m sitting in front of my laptop, well-rested with a cool drink by my side.
No, it hits me like a rock at 2 am when I really need to sleep.
Sitting next to me on the subway it distracts me so I miss my stop.
Leaning provocatively against lamp posts it entices my camera and I to walk the streets for hours, instead of doing errands.
It pops up behind the counter at the store during busy times to whisper web addresses I ought to right now.
And yes I have tried to reason with Inspiration, but it will have none of it.
Strictly a my way or the highway relationship.

ah, i love that you have a relationship with inspiration. the thought is quite nice, and like any other relationship needs constant care and might not always be just right. lovely post.
I loved that it is always with you. I need to open my eyes and take mine with me until it follows me every where:) Wonderful post!
Amen, amen and amen! Inspiration pops up at the most unexpected (and often inconvenient) moments!
I wrote about not being able to force inspiration, and you wrote on the flip side–not being able to stop it! Isn’t inspiration wonderful?
liked your post! I mentioned you today on my blog
You hit the nail on the head with your post.
I’d pay good money for Inspiration to strike me. Anytime, anywhere.
you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO right!! It’s like having money and going shopping for something particular. It never works……….inspiration does sneak up on you……….the moral of the lesson? Always carry a journal and a pen……
great post!!
Saw you on eastoforegon’s site! Isn’t that always the case?! I need to start keeping a notebook by my bed, because I’ll wake up in the middle of the night thinking, “I should write about _____ . . .”
Love “hits you like a rock at 2 a.m.”
You’re post is right on and creatively written! “My Way” song from way back hearing it played by older relatives. “I did it my my way” or something like that.
Inspiration is a fickle thing it seems! I’m only just learning to listen to inspiration when it strikes, instead of refusing to play when it shows up at inconvenient times! Probably something to do with wanting control, but yes, like you say with inspiration it’s my way or the highway! Great post, very inspiring!
Oh, you are so right! I hate when that happens. Inspiration does tend to strike at the oddest (or most inopportune) times.
