Just finished working on one of my writing projects. One of my dreams is to write and star in a play I’ve written. I also want to produce, direct, design the poster and ads, sell the tickets, direct the audience to their seats, and then invite them all over afterwards for coffee.
Over the last couple of years I’ve made tons of notes, worked on an outline, and even got some dialogue down. But today it actually began to take a form. I even came up with a title. Titles are funny. Sometimes you hear something, and realize it would make a perfect title. You haven’tÿot a story yet, but you’ve got a title. I’ve had the idea for this particular play for two years now, and could not come up with a title until this afternoon, when it just fell from my fingertips.
The project consists of three short plays. The weird thing is I’m going to die in all three. Dare I ask: is this overkill? Sorry I just couldn’t resist. Years ago I read somewhere that actors hate working with kids, and love to die on stage/screen. It’s just that the stories work better when I kick off in them.
