Blog365

That means a post a day for 365 days starting January 1, 2008.

February 29th is the official day off.

I’m looking at it as NaBloPoMo times twelve.

And decisions times twelve too.

Will I do one year long theme?

Or no theme at all?

Or a different theme every month?

Or something different every day?

Or play it by ear?

Or a different photo a day?

Will I use this blog exclusively or use some or all of my others?

Egads! What have I gotten myself into?

Sign me,

Christmas Day was spent quietly eating and napping.

Christmas Night 11 pm on a bus bound for Atlantic City.
Where we played all night, and then discovered The Walk
Be back at ya with a few more photos and details later.
Waving at you all wildly from a rainy New York,

Just finished reading No One Cares What You Had For Lunch  100 Ideas for Your Blog Margaret Mason.

One of my favorites was number 99 Obsess.  Mason writes:  Photograph everywhere you go for a week, note everything you buy for a month, record each outfit you wear for a year.  Mildly (or majorly) obsessive posts are much more illuminating than a snippet here and there.

I’m listening to Old Friend from far away Natalie Goldberg.  It’s a writing workshop on how to write memoir.

I remember the afternoon I discovered Natalie Goldberg.  My daughter was in school, and I wandered over to our local library.  The place was very quiet; the sunshine coming in through the high bank of windows on the right wall warmed me.  With no particular kind of book in mind, I wandered the aisles.  On the last set of shelves, just before the reference section, a slim volume with a white cover caught my eye.  The cover had blue and black type and graphics on a white background; I like that combination of colors.  The book was called Writing Down The Bones.  I liked the title.  I borrowed and read it.

My writing self was never same after that book came into my life.  There is always a notebook in my bag becaose of that book.  I write in coffee bars and cafes because of that book.  I am less afraid because of that book.

If you haven’t already - read that book.

A new option for lunch opened up across the street from my friend in Jersey.

It’s got a salad bar, pizza, deli section with paninis and lots of fresh fruit and drink options.

We made five trips there between the two of us today.

Real couple of oinkers huh?

Speaking of lunch my new book from new book arrived in the mail: No One Cares What You Had For Lunch 100 Ideas For Your Blog Margaret Mason.

I’m going to crack it open right now.

Hope to be back soon with an absolutely enlightening post.

Waving at you all from New York

Thank you all for the lovely birthday comments and e-mails.

It’s been a great week, and I am nowhere near done celebrating.

Right now I’m just chilling out here on my futon; Ed Wood is on the tube.  I ‘ve seen this movie at least a dozen times.  Someone actually started a religion called Woodism.  It’s amazing what turns up when you do a Google search.

Yesterday I spent a good part of the day buying web addresses.  Some people collect thimbles and spoons, me I love to make up web addresses.  Some folks do this, and then sell the names for a profit.  I wish I were that smart.  My problem is that I get emotionally attached to them.  Guess I am afraid someone will misuse or abuse them.

I also participated in my first Secret Santa; my blog buddy Andrena got me involved in one at Elfster.  It was so much fun sending a gift to an absolute stranger.  Wonder who got me?

Tomorrow’s Photo Hunt theme is Small, and I can’t find any in my photo albums to post.  Looks like I favor big things, but I must have taken a photo of something small at some point.

Sunday Scribblings theme is Dance, and have I got a story for that one.

Writer’s Island theme is This Season.  I’ve never really written about Christmas, so it will be interesting see what comes out.

Hey, found a piture for the Photo Hunt.

Some small bits of bric-a-brac.

posted my Writers Island

and cracked open a cold Sierra Mist - a definite aah moment.

Thought I’d try something different today, so I posted my Sunday Scribbling on my moblog.  It took me about 20 minutes to tap out on my Nokia phone keypad.  While I tapped I stopped for sips of decaffeinated Carmel Machiatto; I do a lot of my moblogging at Starbucks and on the subway.  What can I say?  Those are two places that inspire me.

I got another early birthday/Christmas present.  The Samsung Blackjack aka the phone I’ve been wanting for months.  It will not replace my Nokia; it’s replacing the Sony on my second line.  It’s has 3G technology and an awesome screen, so I can check in my blogs while on the go.  This my friends could lead to some astounding phone bills.  Note to myself - add some sort of package to the account pronto.

I got a few other things done including that all important load of laundry, paying a credit card bill and returning a DVD to Blockbuster.

I’m in Jersey now, waiting for my friend J to come meet me for Mexican food and lots of girl talk.

How are all of you?

Last night I got to see my my daughter for the first time in a year.

It was a combination birthday/Christmas visit.

They arrived in New York last night, and the four of use went out for a family dinner.

My daughter and I sat one side of the table, and totally goofed on our husbands.  It’s one of our favorite shared activities.

We also goofed on our totally clueless waiter.  The man was an Italian version of Mr. Magoo.

Afterwards my husband went to work, and the kids went to Rockefeller Center.

I went home to get some things ready for her to take back to MA.

She has a china cabinet now, so I gave her some Wedgewood I bought at an auction years ago.  It’s a very old-fashioned looking, white with a small blue and red flower pattern.

They were back at about 1:30 am, and we loaded up the car trunk.

It’s was great to see her, and they’ll be back for her 25th birthday in April.

I have to laugh when I think about her talking about “hitting the quarter of a century mark,” and “thirty coming up quick behind it.”

I say “Try 46 kiddo, and get back to me.”

This morning the mail carrier arrived with the usual junk mail, and a cloth-wrapped package covered with dozens of colorful stamps.

A birthday gift from Heart!

The wrapping was cut off the box carefully, so it could be saved in one piece.

Inside I found hand-made treasures from his travels, a beautiful card and Winnie-the-Pooh stickers.

I have to tell you it’s four days till my official birthday, and I’m lovin’46.

I joined a group called  Fumbling Toward Discipline over at Inked-In.

This week’s assignment -  write a story of exactly 101 words.

That works out to 33 or 34 words each for the beginning, middle & end.

Hmm…not an easy task.

Stay tuned.

A little while ago my blog buddy Sabine invited me to join  a group called Inked-In over at Ning.

It’s a community for writers, musicians and artists, and the online presence for The Burry Man Writers Center.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Inked-In’s founders: Joseph Hayes & Jennifer Greenhill-Taylor.

They were on holiday here in New York.  We met up at epistrophy a Sardinian restaurant  in Little Italy.

We had the first snow of the season today, and it added to the coziness of it all.

What an amazing couple.  Our time together was too short, and I do hope we’ll meet-up again soon.

And I will be going back to epistrophy soon - even the check was delivered in a special way.

Check it out

Just posted my Saturday Photo Hunt over at my meme blog.

And I checked out the prompt at Sunday Scribblings.

It’s walk; walking is one of my very favorite activities, so that might be a very long post.

And how are all of you?
