It’s said that you can furnish an entire apartment in New York on Big Trash Days.
Those are the days citizens are allowed to put out items that don’t fit in ordinary trash barrels.
You might come upon a complete living room or bedroom suite right on the sidewalk.
And the bric-a-brac is piled higher as an alley cat’s eye.
Computer desks, futon frames and filing cabinets are usually easy scores.
It pays to stroll through higher end neighborhoods those days.
Don’t forget to carry a few extra bucks in case you have to cab home a major find.

As a life long flea market and yard sale addict, I would feel right at home on the sidewalks of New York. Very cool pictures.

Wow, those are some finds! Like Herb said, as someone who loves finding treasures, I’d have such fun on Big Trash Day!

Good thing we no longer live in the city, or my husband would be out there every Big Trash Day, and we’d need a MUCH bigger house

I love those days!
As a child in Germany we had them on regular bases and my parents went through the stuff and sold it later on the flee markets.
The they changed things and now you have to send in little cards and stuff gets picked up by the city workers. Not half as much fun, because you miss those.
In Korea you could often find fine things too.
I got me once a cupboard, a framed (stitched) picture with Pandas and some other nicknacks.
I love that candle holder

Most of the bookshelves in our house are sidewalk scavenge.
