My daughter will be 25 at the end of the month, so it’s been a while since I’ve been up for morning cartoons and kiddie shows.
As I remember our day would start with The Elephant Show on Nickelodeon.
Then we would flip around to Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny & The Flintstones.
Like everyone else in the neighborhood we wondered Where in the World was Carmen San Diego?
And of course there were excursions to the video store for Winnie the Poof & Disney videos.
Wish I had a quarter for every time we sang about that endless blustery day.
For quite a while now I’ve seen little girls with all kinds of Dora the Explorer gear.
This morning I sat down to channel surf, while the laundry was doing it’s thing.
And guess what? Yup, Dora was on.
I joined her and her sidekick, an adorable monkey in shades of blue and lavender, as they searched for a lost toy dinosaur.
I was delighted to find that Dora is Hispanic. We counted estrellas (stars) together and everything.
Maybe I’ll get my daughter a Dora the Explorer doll for her 25th. LOL whatever will she think?

Vamanos!
LOL…. My oldest daughter is 22 and I can just see her roll her eyes at me if I was to give her a Dora doll on her next birthday. What a hoot!
I think she would think her mom has really lost it! NOw if she was 40 she would get the joke, but most likely not at 25
)
Try it!
I have to agree with the comments of those before me….Meish will be 23 on her next birthday…and she would probably rather have the cash!! Now, when she turns 40…then….she’d think it was a hoot!!
She will admonish you and say “oh mom, whatever where you thinking?” but she’ll secretly love it.
Is it horrible that this show annoys me, because she pauses every two seconds for a response.
Is it worse, that I even watched it enough to be annoyed, and I don’t have kids?
Well, I’ve never seen the Dora show but several of those other ones ring a bell. Hey, why spring for a new doll? Just wrap up one of her old toys that she used to adore, complete with photos of her playing with them, sure to elicit “oh mooooooooom, that’s soooooooooo embarrassing, but she’ll be smiling.. remembering…:).
Best wishes to her on her 1/4 century BD at the end of the month!
