It was so hot out on Fifth Ave that I decided to delay my photostroll a bit, and have a bit of a air conditioned book browse. There was available table in the cafe, and I sat down with a stack of books about the wonders of social networking. Facebook and Twitter’s power fascinates and scares me at the same time.
After about an hour of reading, I got out my I-phone and went through emails and tooled around on Facebook – of course. There was a display of totes near the cafe, and I chose ‘the world’s best book bag.’ A sturdy little number with enough roomy pockets for all my stuff. Awesome.
I also picked out a fresh notebook with a pretty pink patterned cover. I’m thinking of printing up color copies of some of my favorite photos & quotes to paste on the pages.
The energetic young lady at the register suggested I stop in at The Nook counter before leaving. The Nook is best described as B&N’s version of the Kindle.
I found two absolutely charming young women named – you guessed Mary Kate & Oprah. Mary Kate actually looks quite a bit like Chelsea Handler – but prettier. Oprah is petite with very expressive eyes. Her smile very Josephine Baker-like. Both girls are no more than 19 or 20, and very dedicated to the Nook mission. They also had good senses of humor, because you know I teased them about their names.
I mean seriously you might expect to find a Mary Kate working with a Courtney – but an Oprah? LOL.
My main questions were about blog availability on the device. Neither girl was a blogger, but they quite interested in hearing about mine. Sweet kids. They told me I really knew how to tell a story. Hell, that no special skill it comes with age. You just learn how to set the scene – know what I mean?
So if you live in the New York area, and need a Nook then I suggest you buy one or more from Mary Kate & Oprah at the 555 5th Avenue location. I am seriously considering one even though I have apps for Barnes & Noble, Kindle and Borders on my I-Phone.
Oh and you can get blogs on the 3G version.
Peace out.

intriguing post!
