I was strolling through St. Marks last week, and shot this wall sign while I was there.

I’ve had the opportunity to speak to Yaffa, an absolutely amazing Israeli woman, on several occasions.

During the aftermath of 9/11 she sent free food non-stop down to the restaurant workers.

Her personal creed; “I don’t drink. I don’t do drugs. I pay my bills.”

I’ll be entertaining on Thursday, and we’ll be going to Yaffa’s place down on Harrison Street.
It’s actually two places in one - a restaurant and tea room.
Here’s a review
Read this one too; it’s a collection of reviews from people who’ve been there.

I’m a fan of the food, decor and Yaffa.

Tried this place Thursday for a late breakfast of Boogie Woogie Brown Sugared Pancakes.
Here’s the official website

Last night while sticking to my no ordering take out resolution, images began to flash on my mind’s screen.

Not  crunchy salmon rolls, sesame beef or curry noodle soup, but all my favorite comfort foods.

Those bits of American fare best eaten while watching classic movies & TV Land late at night.

A list began to form:

  • English Muffin Pizzas
  • Hot Dogs Baked In Crescent Roll Dough
  • Cream Cheese & Jelly Baked In Crescent Roll Dough
  • Beef-a-Roni
  • Captain Crunch
  • Rice Krispies w/ lots of bananas cut in
  • Kraft Macaroni & Cheese w/ a can of tuna & a small can of peas thrown in
  • Kraft Macaroni & Cheese w/ ground turkey sauteed in barbeque sauce thrown in
  • Kraft Macaroni & Cheese w/ nothing thrown in
  • Hamburger Helper made with ground turkey
  • Grilled Cheese w/ tomato
  • Cocktail Franks & Beans
  • Fried Spam sliced thin on Pepperidge Farm Big Slice White Bread

Of course, all of the cooked items must eaten eaten directly from the container they were cooked in.

Suggested beverage - A couple of big spoons of Nesquick or Bosco poured directly into a half full container of milk, shaken vigorously, glass optional.

Happy Posting.

Waving at you all from New York

Okay, so this morning I had some errands along Broadway, and I found myself pretty near  KFC.

They’ve been advertising those new Famous Flavor Bowls , and the little red devil who sits on my left shoulder whispered ”why not?”

It was round about 10:30am when I arrived at the restaurant.  The sight & smell of freshly fried chicken and baked biscuits made me weak in the knees.  A fast moving young lady, the kid was everywhere trust me, took my order.  I got the bowl with the biscuit & white gravy.  And a Diet Pepsi - gotta cut the calories somewhere ;)

The place had one of those self-serve soda stations.  It’s highly entertaining to watch some people use these machines.  I managed to get my soda without misadventure, and picked up my bowl at the counter.

I’d like to send a big Hallmark card to the person who came up with this one.  It’s layers of mashed potato, crispy corn niblets, and tiny bits of boneless fried chicken topped with white gravy and a biscuit.

This is will new treat for when I’ve Been A Very Good Girl & Deserve Something Special

What’s your reward for you’ve been very good?
